Say no to plastic
Most “compostable” cups are lined with plastic.
Nearly every paper cup labelled recyclable or compostable contains a plastic or PLA liner. Plastic-coated cups cannot be composted and are not easily recycled. PLA-lined cups only break down under controlled industrial conditions, and are rarely recycled in practice. Most end up in landfill, or washed into waterbodies.
Ours have no liner at all.
